The changing season has turned many of us inward to review and reassess plans and priorities. For me personally and professionally, it has fuelled a renewed dedication to all things writing—two novels in process (I know, daft, right?), editing submitted manuscripts, getting my debut novel ready for release in early 2024, and applying for grants and residencies. (Wish me luck.)
As always, too, I’m on the prowl for images, poems, and ideas to use in my online generative writing workshops. These workshops I keep to a six-person maximum, and are relatively short (two hours) so everyone has lots of time to write, read, listen, and hear what others find strong in their work.
Starting on October 5th, there are spaces on Wednesdays and weekends available for those who’d like to get some words down in the supportive atmosphere of these intimate and unique workshops. On Monday, November 7, I’m offering a 6-week series that runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern. So check out my calendar to find dates and times that work for you.
The other bit of news I’d like to share is AWA’s new offering. After the resoundingly enthusiastic response to AWA’s yearly Write Around the World initiative, it seemed fitting to host an online writing session every month. The goals of this program are to be a monthly fundraiser for AWA as well as to spread the wonders of the method far and wide. Each will be facilitated by a different AWA workshop leader. Below you’ll find the dates for our test runs for the program to be launched in early 2023.
Here is information about those sessions:
Friday, October 28th from 10am–12pm Pacific (1–3pm Eastern)
Led by Deepam Wadds of Write Your Way InMonday, November 28th from 4–6pm Pacific (7–9pm Eastern)
Led by Kimberly LeeFriday, December 30th from 10am–12pm Pacific (1–3pm Eastern)
Led by Sue Reynolds of Ink Slingers
Suggested donation levels are $10, $15, and $20.
I hope you’ll join some or all of them to either get a taste of the AWA method or fall back in love with it.
And just a short note where you can imagine me jumping up and down. After receiving inbox-filling rejections for short fiction, creative non-fiction, poems, first chapters, and a major grant, Quagmire Literary Magazine accepted a short story for publication. It will be published on October 11, so stay tuned…
Love to all and thanks for your support.
Deepam
Great post. Love that your short story will be shared with the world. As always, I look forward to writing with you as much as possible.
